FAQs
Mamma Chai FAQs
1. What is chai?
Chai is a traditional Indian spiced tea made with tea, warming spices, and milk. Masala Chai simply means Spiced Tea
It’s more than a drink, it’s a daily ritual rooted in connection, comfort, and wellbeing. In many Indian homes, “chai piyoge (will you have tea?) (pronounced Chaa-ee pee-yoh-gay?)” is an invitation to pause, connect, and share a moment.
2. What makes Mamma Chai different?
Because your daily ritual should feel simple, supportive and deeply nourishing.
Most chai is made for taste alone. Ours is made to help you feel better in your body, while still tasting deeply comforting.
Our blends are:
Designed to support digestion, energy + nervous system balance
Made with clean, consciously sourced ingredients
Free from added sugars, fillers or artificial flavours
Formulated over 12 months of testing
Crafted using Ayurvedic* principles
*Ayurveda is a 5000+ year old traditional Indian holistic healing system. It focuses on creating balance in the body through food, herbs, and daily rituals that support digestion, energy, and overall wellbeing.

5. Is chai hard to make?
Not at all, once you try it, it becomes second nature. You don’t need more to do, you need something that:
Feels grounding and gives back
Replaces something you already do (like coffee)
The process itself is part of the ritual.
Many of our customers say it becomes the one moment in their day that actually fills their cup.
All you need:
A small pan
Your favourite mug
A strainer
5–10 minutes
Can I use non-dairy alternatives?
Yes, all our blends our suitable to be made with alternative non dairy milks
Do I have to make it on the stovetop?
No- stovetop is traditional, but not essential. You can also:
Brew in a teapot
Make iced chai
Add latte blends to smoothies or bowls
6. Why don’t you sell “sticky chai”?
We choose not to because:
It’s pre-sweetened with syrups or sugars and often includes unnecessary additives
It removes your control over sweetness
It’s not traditional or Ayurvedic
Our chai blends are:
Dry tea + spice only
No added sugars or fillers
Fully customisable to your taste
Are your blends suitable for blood sugar conscious lifestyles?
Our chai blends (Royal, Assam, Rooibos) are unsweetened, giving you full control.
Traditional spices like cinnamon, ginger, and cardamom have long been used in Ayurveda to support digestion and metabolic balance.
Latte blends:
Contain a small amount of coconut sugar for balance, used mindfully, not excessively.
If managing blood sugar levels, enjoy mindfully and follow your healthcare guidance.
7. Chai vs Matcha vs Coffee—what’s the difference?
Chai: ~40–50mg → gentler, steadier energy
Matcha: Moderate-high (~60–70mg) → sustained but still stimulating
Coffee: High caffeine (~95mg) → quick boost, possible crash
Chai also supports:
Digestion (via spices)
Nervous system balance
A more grounded energy
Will it replace my coffee?
It can, but it doesn’t have to.
Some people:
Swap their afternoon coffee for chai
Use chai as a gentler morning start
Or keep both, depending on the day
Our energising blends are designed to give you:
sustained energy
without the jittery highs and crashes
8. How do your blends support me?
Your digestion and wellbeing support
Chai spices like ginger, fennel, and cardamom have traditionally been used to:
Support digestion
Reduce bloating
Aid nutrient absorption
Combined with the ritual of making chai, it becomes a simple daily way to support both gut and nervous system health.
Your nervous system support
Chai offers a more balanced energy experience:
Black tea contains L-theanine → calm alertness
Spices + warmth → grounding effect
The ritual itself → creates a mindful pause
It’s not just what’s in the cup—it’s the experience of making it.
